Meet Krystle | Designer | Sydney
As the national sales manager at May the Label and designer of her eponymous jewellery brand Krystle Knight, Krystle is constantly surrounded by the latest in fashion and beauty, and oozes personal style.
Krystle describes her style as ‘clean and casual with pops of colour’. She names the ’effortlessly cool’ Rihanna as one of her style icons.
Despite working two jobs in the fast paced fashion world, Krystle still manages to maintain a cool and calm demeanour. On days when she works from home, she’s dressed in ‘denim shorts and a singlet’ accented by a ‘neon lacy bra’. She loves well-made basic wear and is a huge fan of up- and-comer ‘This Is First Base‘.
Krystle is all about accessories. She launched her own jewellery line just a year ago and has gone from success to success, with her designs being worn by the likes of Rachel Finch, The Sydney Fashion Blogger and Brooke of Maiden Sydney, to name a few. Of her love of jewellery, she says ‘I’ve always worn a lot of delicate rings and necklaces. I like to layer a lot’. She has a strong affinity for crystals, having always carried them in her handbag – and perhaps through nominative determinism, has now found herself designing crystal jewellery. She works mostly with clear quartz and is soon to introduce amethyst. More than just a fashion statement, she is also interested in the energy and healing properties of crystals. She wears mostly fine chains and delicate rings but says, ‘Sometimes I’ll wear a chunky statement piece’. She also loves a good anklet, and has included one in her next collection.
As far as footwear, Krystle finds herself mostly in in ‘ankle boots’. She tells of her love/hate relationship with sneaker heels and confesses that, ‘a year later I finally accepted the Isabel Marant sneaker. And now I have 2 pairs’.
Krystle is constantly travelling for work – interstate between Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane for May The Label, and to CULTURE MACHINE’s home island of Bali for her jewellery! Dressing for interstate travel can be tricky she says, ‘Melbourne is hard to pack for because it’s hot here [in Sydney] and freezing there’.
She says she can’t leave the door without her crystals and her Pared sunnies.
At the moment, Krystle is listening to Lorde, who she discovered only recently after being offered free tickets to a Lorde concert whilst walking past a venue in Melbourne. She’s also a huge gan of The Killers, and as far as DJ’s go, she’s into Avici.
When it comes to books, Krystle prefers non-fiction. She’s currently reading the Celestine Prophecies. In her down time she’s either reading, doing yoga or going to the beach. Working two jobs doesn’t give her much time to put her feet up!
