Meet Lydia | Model | Byron Bay

Channelling Sky Ferreira, Gwen Stefani and Abbey Lee Kershaw – Lydia’s striking look combines platinum blonde locks, statement brows and big brown doe-eyes.

Lydia names Erin Wasson, Kelly Ash and Bridgett Bardot as her style icons – she loves their wild, carefree spirit. Lydia admires gypsy life, and aspires to one day build her own little cottage in Byron Bay. She’s says the hippy culture lends well to this vagrant lifestyle but,  ’you don’t have to wear a hemp caftan to be a part of that!’.

Lydia sums up her style as ‘Modern Elf Princess’.  Khaleesi from Game of Thrones is her fictional muse.

Lydia is an online shopper. She’s definitely an accessories girl, but likes to keep it simple, ‘I’m not into bright accessories. I’m not bold unless it’s a necklace. I really like delicate pieces’. She likes head chains and ‘anything that looks like an elf princess!’ She loves shopping for accessories on Ebay, and says that most of her jewellery is from Etsy. For shoes, she likes a  ’good boot, clogs or a strappy heel’. She says ‘I don’t own sneakers’.

You’ll find the following sites in her bookmarks bar: The Cobra Snake, MamadouxFor Love And Lemons, and Sisters of the Black Moon‘.

Lydia has worked with a number of exciting upcoming brands and names Casper & Pearl, and Marho Leather as ones to watch.

As far as music, Lydia says she’s moved away from rock and pop, towards minimalist electronic music. She names Chet Faker, Purity Ring, Grimes and Neon Indian as her favourites. When it comes to film she gravitates towards animation, fantasy and horror. She loves claymation and speaks highly of the film, Coraline. She’s a massive Studio Ghibli fan and talks with enthusiasm about Princesse Mononoke and Spirited Away. She also loves a Tarantino film!

Lydia is interested in styling and says that she likes to ‘have input in shoots, especially if they’re just for a friend.’ She loves making mood boards and collects inspiration on Pinterest. She’s also interested in interior design, ‘I like to decorate anything I can’. Lydia has been greatly inspired by the book, ‘Tiny Homes and Simple Shelters’ which documents DIY projects customising vintage caravans and turning them into portable homes,  ’the people have totally ripped out the metal, made it wooden and stain glass and made it their own.’

This gypsy princess is also a little domesticated. Of her hobbies, she names gardening as her passion! She says she would get home from school and ‘prune everything, mow the lawn, weed… I’d work in the garden right into the night!’ Her favourite flower is the white lily.

Lydia’s staple items are a ‘baggy white singlet’ and a ‘nice lacy bralette’. Lydia wears an all black ensemble for our street style shoot. She says she’s ‘Not huge on colour. Some colours I’ll never wear are bold navy and green . If it’s really simple I’ll wear a red dress. But I wouldn’t wear a red ensemble or red shoes’. Lydia likes to stick to ‘whites, denim and black’.

Lydia names Alex Spencer of 4thandbleeker  as her ultimate style muse. She admires Alex Spencer’s unique career trajectory, ’I learned a lot from dropping out of school…I haven’t followed the standard path. The non-committed people who don’t just want one job for their whole life. That’s why I like Alex Spencer so much.’

Lydia is just starting out at modelling, but has a bright future ahead of her.
